Grandmother uses art to brighten up her small village.
You might think of outdoor artwork such as murals and graffiti as a fairly new invention, or something only enjoyed by young, revolutionary individuals.
But this grandmother who hails from the small Czech village of Louka, in southern Moravia at the grand old age of 90-years old, showing that radical art is not just a young person’s game.
Agnes Kasparkova spend the majority of her life as an agricultural worker in the small farming village, but as her retirement settled in she decided to do something beautiful with her spare time.
She paints the beautiful blue flower-like traditional Moravian motifs on buildings and walls in the village, and they are so beautiful it looks as if the whole place has been turned into an art installation.
MyModernMet have reported that her favorite building to paint is the town’s church, and Agnes can be frequently seen touching up her previous artwork, restoring the colors and making sure it is always the vibrant focal point of the community.
Like any true artist, Kasparkova never plans her artwork in advance, she simply imagines it and then gets to work. The motifs she paints are in such intricate detail, they almost look as if they have been creating using a stencil, it might be hard without actually seeing the pictures to imagine that these amazing paintings have been done by hand, by someone nearly 100 years old!
The locals say how Kasparkova keeps inside during the winter months, as the weather conditions can be very harsh in this part of the Czech Republic. But as soon as spring rolls around she can be seen out in the streets, renewing old artwork that has been damaged in the winter months and creating new pictures.
