The future of cycling – never get a flat tire again!
Cycling just got a whole lot easier with this ingenious invention.
Anyone who has ever embarked upon a long bike ride will know the perils of the dreaded flat tire.
Getting a flat can turn an enjoyable trip into a nightmare, but this could all be a thing of the past.
Bike company Nexo have invented the airless tire, ensuring you will be “Flat Free Forever.”
Dave Ballard, Nexo Tires co-founder says:
“Nothing ruins a bike ride or commute faster than a flat, and flats can cost between $15 and $30 to fix, so to save our customers money and the frustration of a flat, we created a better solution.
We believe Ever Tires and Nexo Tires will be something every cyclist will want once they hear about them.”
The tires are designed in a totally different way to the conventional bike tire. Instead of being pumped full of air, a super resistant springy and lightweight material is used to recreate the feeling of an air-filled tire.
The tires are made from a single, recyclable material, meaning they are super easy to be reused when they eventually give out. At present it is estimated that around 10,000,000 tons of bike tires and tubes are thrown away each year!
The airless Nexo tires aim to reduce the overall number of waste materials that are produced from cyclists each year.
The tires are not only environmentally friendly, they are super resilient, too. They do not pop or puncture like normal tires, meaning you will never have to worry about what you are riding over again.
The Nexo tire makes cycling a whole lot easier, and the company guarantees at least 5,000 miles out of each tire before they need to be replaced!
These airless tires are just one of the great examples the way the world is adapting with the view of reducing the amount of non-recyclable materials we use. As individuals we are all responsible for the amount of waste we create, but it helps when larger companies get on board, too.
Non-recyclable waste is a huge problem that is affecting every aspect of life on earth. The seas are full with plastic and rubber pollution, to the point now where something must be done.
Creating re-usable and recyclable products like the Nexo tire in place of older, single use items is one step in the right direction.
