EPA face court woes over the banning of fluoride.
The EPA have been challenged in a lawsuit over their attempt to limit information about the dangers of fluoride.
The potential dangers of fluoride have been widely assessed, and there have been possible links between the additive and a range of health problems.
A lawsuit was brought against the EPA by a number of health organizations and Food and Water Watch Inc., who are asking for a ban of fluoride in water.
Fluoride is added to water supplies and has been for many years. The reason being that it helps reduce tooth decay across the nation.
But studies have shown how fluoride could be triggering health problems due to it being a neurotoxin. Neurological disorders such as autism and ADHD.
The judge in case, from the Northern District of California denied the EPA’s desire to:
“limit the information available to the court while making their decision on whether or not to ban water fluoridation.”
The petition from citizens to ban the adding of the chemical to water comes under section 21 of The Toxic Substances Control Act. This allows members of the public to call for a ban of substances if they believe it to be in the public interest.
The Activist Post reports:
“As the lawsuit proceeded the EPA interpreted the language of the law to mean the judge should be limited to reviewing the information the EPA provided when it decided to reject the petition on February 17, 2017.
“The disagreement is whether, in reaching its own decision, the court can consider information that the EPA did not have access to e.g. expert testimony, new studies, documents obtained in discovery, etc.,”
Michael Connett, the attorney representing the coalition told Bloomberg Environment before the ruling.”
What exactly are the EPA trying to hide? If there is absolutely nothing wrong with adding fluoride to water then why are they trying to hide the fact surrounding it?
The judges decision to stop the motion could mean further problems for them down the line. It could have put the wheels in motion for a complete overhaul of the addition of fluoride in our water.
If fluoride is not naturally in our water, why do the EPA think it needs to be there? Studies suggest that all that extra fluoride could be wreaking havoc with our health, particularly in the brain development of young children.
