Joint pain is a common complaint and many suffer for years without finding a helpful solution.
While many people take over the counter medicines to try and relieve their joint pain, there is actually a much better, natural alternative.
There are many different causes for joint pain and although it can strike when you are young, it tends to become more prominent with age. Those who work on their feet for long hours without resting are prone to suffering from joint pain, along with people who suffer from arthritis, joint inflammation or specific injury to the joints such as fractures.
Cabbage for joint pain
Believe it or not, a cold compress made from fresh cabbage is one of the best ways to ease joint pain, it is a tried and tested method that is used by many and the effects are well documented.
Cabbage itself is packed with vitamins and minerals and as well as using it as directed here, it is one of the best vegetables to add to your diet for overall health. It is high in vitamins A and D, potassium, and iron, it has the ability to cleanse the blood. Cruciferous vegetables like cabbage are also known to rejuvenate the skin, making it look younger and healthier.
This cabbage compress uses red cabbage, but there are many varieties out there. The main four are green/white cabbage, this is usually used in salads and soups and is the most common type of cabbage. Red cabbage is also used in cookery and has a deep purple color and a bitter flavor. Savoy cabbage is categorized by its big leaves and is used in dishes as the size of the veg makes it great for stuffing and filling with other ingredients. Bok choy is an Eastern variety of cabbage and is popular in Chinese cuisine.
For the cabbage compress, you will need:
- Red cabbage
- Aluminum foil
Remove the outer leaf of the cabbage and wash it with water. Leave it to dry and cut the hard stem. Then, use a rolling pin over the leaf to release the juice. Afterwards, wrap it in the foil and warm it in the oven for a bit. Put it onto the painful area and attach it with gauze. Take it off after 60 minutes.
Repeat the treatment two times per day and see how much easier and pain free your joints move.
