Wrapped ginger treatment – gets rid of all coughs.
It has reached that time of year again when you can’t go into any shop or office without avoiding the dreaded barrage of people coughing over you.
If your job means coming into contact with a lot of different people every day (which for a lot of us is the case) no matter how good your diet and immune system is, there is just too many germs for your body to compete with.
Most of us will succumb to a cold, cough or both at come point in the year, and usually during these winter months.
Suffering from a cough normally robs you of the one thing you need when you are under the weather – a good night’s sleep.
As the pharmaceutical industry has evolved there are now a whole range of cough ‘medicines’ available to us, but if you take the time to read the packaging most of these contain no more than sugary glucose syrup and some artificial flavorings.
Some stronger cough medications prescribed by doctors for particularly nasty coughs often contain dextromethorphan and codeine. These two ingredients are known to have side effects including migraines, sleeplessness and heart palpitations – not exactly what you need for a peaceful sleep.
We believe that when it comes to curing coughs and colds, natural remedies are the best.
One ingredient that has been used for centuries to cure coughs (a testament to how well it works) is ginger.
Not only does ginger have natural mucus de-lodging properties, it’s natural aroma relaxes every cell in your body lulling you into a great night’s sleep, the opposite of what happens when you have sugar and chemicals coursing through your bloodstream.
The following recipe is for a natural ginger and honey ‘wrapped’ chest pack. It contains only natural ingredients therefore is safe to use continually until the cough is gone, something that cannot be done with strong medicines that include painkillers.
Ginger Wrap Recipe
- 1 tablespoon of fresh ginger or ginger powder
- Raw honey
- Olive oil
- Adhesive tape
- Combine the honey and flour together, mixing until they are fully cohesive.
- Next mix in a few drops of olive oil so that the mixture become more soluble, and add the ginger. Make sure the mixture is not too wet as it will seep through the wrap, aim for a gel-like texture.
- Spoon the mixture into the middle of the napkin and wrap well with gauze so that the mixture is full contained and will not seep out.
- Gently apply the wrap to your chest with adhesive tape.
For adults, the wrap can be worn throughout the night, for children it is recommended that the wrap be applied three hours before bed and taken off to sleep in.
